Spain's Constitutional Court unanimously suspended a "consultation of citizens" on independence in the northeastern region of Catalonia due on Sunday, the court said on Tuesday.

Spain's government had asked the court to block the vote called by Catalonia's government after the same court suspended a referendum on secession while it rules on whether it is legal.
